About
The Role:
We have an immediate requirement for an experienced, hands-on Civil Engineer to join our Engineering & Project Delivery team, based primarily in Geraldton with regular deployment to projects across the Pilbara and surrounding regions.
This is not a standard office-based engineering role. You will be the critical technical link between design and construction on major regional projects, including our flagship 140-lot residential subdivision in Geraldton. A key focus of this position is overseeing the technical integration of sustainable energy systems (such as community solar and battery storage) with traditional civil infrastructure (roads, drainage, utilities).
You will provide on-the-ground technical oversight, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to rigorous quality standards in demanding regional environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and verify technical engineering designs for civil works, including subdivisions, earthworks, pavements, drainage, and utility installations.
Oversee the on-site technical integration of renewable energy infrastructure with civil works, ensuring seamless functionality and compliance.
Conduct regular site inspections, geotechnical assessments, and comprehensive WHS risk evaluations across various remote project sites.
Directly supervise contractors and field teams to ensure construction adheres strictly to engineering plans, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant Australian Standards.
Manage all aspects of Quality Assurance (QA/QC), including reviewing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), managing non-conformances, and compiling handover documentation.
Act as the primary technical liaison with local government authorities (e.g., City of Greater Geraldton), utility providers, and clients regarding approvals and compliance.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
To be successful in this challenging regional role, you must possess:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or a qualification assessed as equivalent by Engineers Australia).
A minimum of 3–5 years of post-qualification experience in civil construction, land development, or infrastructure delivery.
Crucial: Demonstrated experience in, or a strong technical understanding of, integrating renewable energy technologies into civil infrastructure projects.
Proven experience working autonomously in regional, remote, or site-based environments within Australia.
Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS), WHS legislation, and construction methodologies.
Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with site crews, clients, and regulators.
A current WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and the flexibility to travel frequently to remote sites as project needs dictate.
