We are seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities
As a Civil Engineer with Canberra Contractors, you will be responsible for:
• Reviewing and interpreting engineering designs, technical drawings, and project specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Determining and developing appropriate construction methodologies, materials, and quality assurance such as ITPs for efficient project delivery.
• Preparing and managing detailed project programs, including monthly look ahead, forecast, and resource allocation to maintain effective budgetary control.
• Coordinating procurement and the delivery of construction materials, equipment, and labour resources to site.
• Leading and supervising site activities, ensuring safe work practices and effective coordination of subcontractors and staff.
• Assessing and managing design RFI, DCR and NCRs, including evaluating impacts on budgets, schedules, and project scope, and negotiating variations when required.
• Overseeing quality assurance, compliance testing, and environmental management throughout project lifecycles.
• Engaging with landholders, stakeholders, and local authorities to support project approvals and foster positive working relationships.
• Oversee cost code management, including monthly forecasting and subcontractor claims assessment, achieving cost efficiency within allocated budgets.
• Manage subcontractor performance, including procurement, claims validation, and variation negotiation, ensuring alignment with contract terms and project timelines.
• Involved in traffic management planning, including TGS approvals, stakeholder coordination, and implementation of complex traffic switches to ensure public safety and program compliance.
• Procure materials, secure permits, and ensure all approvals (e.g. council) are obtained prior to work commencement.
• Supporting sustainability delivery by incorporating environmentally responsible practices and value engineering principles into project outcomes.
• Providing technical input into risk and opportunity assessments, ensuring projects are delivered with minimal disruptions and maximum value.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
• A recognised AQF bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• At least 1 year of relevant professional experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and infrastructure delivery.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 + superannuation
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week
