  • Overview: This internship provides an opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in social innovation project activation within a dynamic, collaborative environment. The City North Activation Intern will support projects that explore issues shaping the future of social innovation and RMIT’s strategic direction by: Conducting data collection and analysis in areas of social innovation and impact, and supporting project administration Supporting the synthesis of findings into clear, structured reports and presentations that inform decision making Contributing to the marketing of social innovation activation projects Supporting the delivery of events and engagements Collaborating with colleagues across the City North team and the Policy, Strategy & Impact portfolio The role is ideal for applicants who are curious, analytical, and motivated to learn, with an interest in social impact. This role offers exposure to the tertiary education sector with an opportunity to contribute to impactful projects. Specific professional growth and networking opportunities offered to Interns include: Learn from friendly, open, and intelligent colleagues in a collaborative environment Exposure to strategic advisory and enterprise planning projects Training sessions in Excel, quantitative analysis, problem-solving methods, market research, and structured communication Mentoring and regular check-ins with managers and colleagues Opportunities to engage with and present work to senior stakeholders across RMIT, and receive structured feedback where appropriate Key Accountabilities With guidance, develop, contribute and provide support in producing concise and well written briefing papers, executive reports, public communications materials and research papers. Conduct background research and provide summary briefs on specific topic areas with relevance to a diverse range issues within RMIT’s impact activation activities and priorities. Assist and support the administration and coordination of various team specific projects. Monitor and assist with tracking and responding to enquiries as per specific team requirements. Assist with general communications, engagement and administration tasks, as required. Key Selection Criteria A keen interest and working knowledge of social innovation and/or impact activation projects at either a local or global level; and/or public communications and engagement activities. Excellent and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of writing principles that align with the preparation of briefs, concise summaries, strategic analysis and background research. An eye for detail and the ability to provide basic synthesis and analysis of diverse knowledge areas High-level digital literacy and experience in the O365 environment, internet and e-mail. Proven commitment to collaboration, versatility, flexibility and teamwork; with a positive mindset (Desirable) Experience undertaking basic quantitative analysis, this may include developing basic financial models, creating charts and other data visualisations, reviewing and interpreting data in Excel, Tableau and PowerBI Qualifications RMIT student in the process of obtaining relevant qualifications, or recently completed, in communications, social sciences, economics or law.
