Full-time Child Care Worker position available in North Manly NSW 2100
Playhouse Learning Center is a long day care service for children aged 0–6 years, delivering a warm “home-feel” and community-like environment, and supporting smooth transitions into care through strong relationships and secure attachments. The centre’s philosophy and practice emphasise relationship and connection, respect for children’s interests and needs, and empowering children’s voice.
On behalf of Playhouse Learning Center, we are looking for a full-time Child Care Worker. This role provides high-quality care and supervision for children in a designated room, supports daily routines, and contributes to a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
• Provide direct care and supervision of children at all times (indoor and outdoor), ensuring a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
• Support daily routines such as arrivals, meals, rest/sleep, toileting, transitions and departures, maintaining consistent supervision and child-safe practices.
• Assist in delivering play-based experiences by helping set up and pack up learning areas, preparing resources, and engaging children in activities aligned with the centre program and children’s interests.
• Promote children’s wellbeing and development through responsive interactions, positive behaviour guidance, and support for social-emotional skills and peer relationships.
• Maintain health, hygiene and safety practices, including infection control, cleaning routines, allergy-aware procedures, safe food handling, and safe sleep/rest practices.
• Complete routine documentation and records as directed (e.g., attendance checks, headcounts, incident/illness forms, medication records, routine logs), ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Communicate with families through daily handovers and routine updates, and promptly refer any health, developmental or behavioural concerns to the Nominated Supervisor/Educational Leader.
• Follow centre policies and procedures relating to child safety, supervision, privacy, incident reporting, risk management and WHS, and report hazards or concerns promptly.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive workplace culture and continuous improvement activities as directed.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Certificate IV or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
• At least 1 year of proven experience working in a long day care/early childhood setting.
• Sound understanding of child safety, supervision, safe sleep practices, hygiene, and risk awareness.
• Ability to support play-based learning within centre guidelines and respond to children’s interests and routines.
• Demonstrated skills in positive behaviour guidance and supporting children’s social-emotional wellbeing.
• Commitment to cultural safety, inclusion, and respectful communication with children, families and colleagues.
• Familiarity with EYLF/NQP practices (desirable)
Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $76,000 - $85,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
