- Annual Salary $74k - $78k
Responsibilities include however, not limited to
- Perform site sampling, laboratory analysis, and fieldwork for clients across various locations, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Deliver independent test results that comply with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Support clients in determining compliance with environmental and industrial regulations through reliable testing services.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the Industrial & Environment (I&E) business’s chemistry capabilities.
- Manage and execute industrial projects, ensuring quality outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Assist in maintaining a profitable core business focused on air, gas, and industrial chemistry services
- Technical & Laboratory Work
- Conduct analysis of air, gas, and other samples using GC and GC-MS.
- Perform industrial and environmental chemistry work as required.
- Undertake practical laboratory work, including sample preparation, reagent preparation, and use/maintenance of analytical instruments.
- Implement and maintain analysis protocols for new and existing service markets.
- Undertake developmental work under supervision for new methods and instrumentation.
- Maintain documented methods to ensure compliance with international best practices.
- Keep accurate records and prepare technical reports on work conducted.
- Field Work & Compliance
- Undertake field sampling and site visits across NSW and interstate as required.
- Conduct audits and inspections at client sites.
- Maintain NATA registration for all key field services.
- Ensure equipment is serviced, repaired, and calibrated with appropriate documentation.
- Client & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with a focus on customer satisfaction and business growth.
- Provide technical support to clients.
- Maintain an understanding of market trends, competition, and client needs in Australia.
- Assist in identifying and developing new business opportunities in Australia and the SEAP region
- Time & Project Management
- Organize time efficiently to meet analytical project deadlines.
- Actively participate in self-improvement through training, conferences, and seminars.
- Administrative & Office Support
- Plan, coordinate, and manage office service standards.
- Provide customer service by responding to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate financial processes including client invoicing, purchase orders, and petty cash management in line with SGS policies.
- Review monthly accounts and advise the Business Manager of any discrepancies.
- Maintain effective administrative systems (e.g., BOSS, LIMS, SLIM, and hard copy filing).
- Manage procurement of office supplies and equipment.
- Provide secretarial support to the management team.
- Assist with month-end reporting and personnel activities such as hiring and payroll.
- Review and maintain the integrity of client and supplier databases.
- Supervise workflow and activities of administrative assistants.
- Qualifications
The successful candidate will have
- Bachelor of Science &/or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)
- Several years of industry experience
- Background in analytical techniques use in chemical testing, industrial analysis, environmental analysis and occupational hygiene
- In depth knowledge both theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry and chemical analysis
- Thorough understanding of GC/GC-MS equipment and the legislation/standards applicable to the work performed.
- Technical and professional knowledge, especially air procedures and regulatory requirements
