About the Position:
The Chemical Engineer role at Access Petrotec Pty Ltd is a critical position focused on supporting the development and optimisation of metallurgical processes in laboratory and pilot plant settings. This full-time role involves hands-on process development, test work, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovative solutions for our clients in the mining and related industries. The position plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient process systems, contributing directly to the company’s mission of providing world-class engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct metallurgical test work and evaluations in laboratory and pilot plant settings to optimise synthesized materials.
Support pilot plant campaigns, including occasional weekend work as part of a tight operating roster.
Assist the Technology Manager in developing and implementing process methodologies and operating procedures.
Maintain a strong safety culture through participation in safety programs and regular laboratory safety audits.
Prepare chemical solutions, perform quality control sampling and analysis, and ensure compliance with process standards.
Document experimental findings through detailed technical reports, charts, and data analysis.
Collaborate with engineering teams to support the design, review, and optimisation of process systems, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment calculations.
Participate in engineering and risk assessment workshops (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID) and contribute to process deliverables, schedules, and cost estimates.
Provide ongoing technical support across the project lifecycle to resolve metallurgical and process-related challenges.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
Master’s degree in Project Management.
3–7 years of experience in lab or pilot-scale process work.
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and process design software.
Strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
