Position Overview
We are a French café located in Geraldton, a regional town in Western Australia, specialising in authentic French crêpes and traditional French dishes. We are seeking a skilled French Cuisine Specialist Chef to lead the preparation of our menu, maintain culinary authenticity, and support the ongoing growth of our business.
This role requires advanced knowledge of classical French cooking techniques and experience in preparing traditional French dishes, including savoury and sweet crêpes, sauces, fillings, and café-style French meals.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook authentic French crêpes (sweet and savoury) using traditional methods
• Prepare a range of classic French dishes in line with established recipes and techniques
• Develop and refine menu items to maintain French culinary authenticity
• Prepare crêpe batters, fillings, sauces, and accompaniments from scratch
• Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes
• Oversee kitchen operations during service periods
• Train and mentor kitchen staff in French cooking techniques and crêpe preparation
• Manage food preparation schedules, stock control, and ordering
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards
• Monitor food costs and minimise waste
Skills & Experience Required
• Trade qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated experience as a Chef specialising in French cuisine
• Proven ability to prepare authentic French crêpes and traditional French dishes
• Strong understanding of French culinary techniques and flavour profiles
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Commitment to quality, consistency, and food safety standards
Salary & Conditions
• Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum + superannuation (commensurate with experience)
• Full-time ongoing position
