About the Role
The Chef at Gopi Ka Chatka plays a key role in delivering high-quality Indian cuisine that blends traditional Flavors with a modern touch. The position focuses on preparing fresh, flavourful dishes using quality local produce while maintaining our high standards of food quality and consistency. Chefs are responsible for supporting menu planning, execution, and catering to a diverse range of guest dinners, and high-volume service. The role also involves leading and supporting the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations during busy periods and special events.

Position: Chef
Location of work: 23 Meriton Place, Clayton South 3169
Employment type: Permanent, Full time.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $85000 plus Superannuation.
The main Duties of the position include:
Duties include, but are not limited to –
• Plan, develop and cost menus in consultation with management, ensuring commercial viability and consistency with the restaurant’s concept.
• Contribute ideas for new dishes, menu improvements and kitchen efficiency enhancements.
• Prepare, cook and present meals during service periods in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
• Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation to ensure consistency across all dishes
• Collaborate with the executive chef/management to plan menus for events, functions and catering requirements.
• Supervise kitchen operations to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
• Train, mentor and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, hygiene standards and safe work practices.
• Allocate duties and direct kitchen staff to meet service demands and operational requirements.
• Monitor and regulate the use of kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills and refrigeration units.
• Comply with all workplace policies, system operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all food is stored, handled and prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
• Maintain kitchen stock levels, order food supplies and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
Skills/ experience required:
• At least Diploma of Hospitality Management.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required. (Indian Cuisine)
