Staple Eatery & Deli is a brand-new establishment in the beautiful town of Portarlington. Situated in the old country butchers, the building has history that dates back decades. Our vision is to consistently create and deliver food that is simple yet delicious.  

We are seeking a skilled and talented Chef to join our creative and innovative team.  You will be passionate about creating amazing food, working efficiently and effectively, highly motivated and a true hospitality professional who will perfectly complement our vision and values.

About the Position:

The Chef De Partie position at Staple Eatery & Deli is a full-time role based in Portarlington, offering an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team passionate about cooking and serving the community. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced kitchen, preparing and cooking the shops signature dishes while contributing to a high-energy, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Chef with menu preparation and ensuring adequate supplies are available for expected service

Liaise with the Front of House staff regarding the availability of menu items, additions to the menu and any relevant changes

Maintain excellent presentation standards and cost control whilst maintaining recipe standards

Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage

Keep all working areas clean and tidy & ensuring all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned to OHS standards

Contribute towards of the creation of an exciting seasonal menu

 

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role

Additionally experience in working with wood fired pizza ovens  

Trade qualifications

Great communication skills and ability to keep cool, calm and collected under pressure

Ability to maintain high and consistent standards

Excellent organisational skills & grooming standards

Ability to maintain food safety standards and HACCP requirements

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays
