About the Position:
As Chef at Mandi Corner, you will play a central role in upholding the restaurant's reputation for authentic, high-quality Mandi and Middle Eastern dishes. This full-time position involves leading kitchen operations, ensuring every meal reflects traditional flavours and standards of excellence from preparation through to presentation, while collaborating closely with the team to deliver seamless, timely service that delights our family and foodie customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order supplies efficiently to support smooth operations.
Monitor dish quality across all preparation and presentation stages to maintain high standards.
Consult with managers, kitchen, and wait staff on food preparation issues and improvements.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise team members on procedures for consistency.
Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Mandi dishes, specials, and café-style offerings using fresh ingredients to exceptional standards.
Explain and enforce hygiene regulations consistently to ensure compliance and safety.
Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff as required to build a capable team.
Freeze and preserve foods appropriately to maintain quality and minimise waste.
Ensure food quality consistency from prep to plating, including portion control.
Forecast needs, manage stock and costs, and optimise kitchen operations for efficiency.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to achieve seamless and timely service delivery.
Requirements:
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma in Hospitality Management (or equivalent recognised qualifications).
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a restaurant or similar hospitality setting.
Strong technical skills in preparing Middle Eastern and traditional slow-cooked dishes, with proficiency in menu planning, cost control, stock management, and hygiene/safety compliance.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to train and supervise staff, communicate effectively with team members, and collaborate with front-of-house for smooth service.
A passion for authentic cuisine, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining consistent quality in a fast-paced environment.
