Overview:

We are a busy restaurant at Hastings Street, Noosa, serving on average over 1,000 meals per day of the week and it is most important for us to consistently deliver quality food, excellent meal presentation and speedy service.
The Chef position is full-time and ongoing, with 38 working hours per week, and is an integral and most important part of us achieving high standards.
Main Tasks:

- Planning, preparing and producing a range of menu items including, but not limited to, appetisers, salads, seafoods; and other mains;
- Assembling and preparing ingredients for menu items in enabling Cooks to learn techniques required for the preparation of each food item;
- Monitoring the quality of dishes in all preparation and presentation stages;
- Selecting and training new kitchen staff - thereby advising on cooking procedures - and overseeing their performance;
- Planning and organising logical work sequences within time restraints;
- Prioritising menus, recipes and task sheets - and also assigning them to Cooks and other kitchen staff;
- Developing recipes and menus;
- Meeting specialist dietary requests and catering for these via tailored options;
- Handling problems such as shortage of food items (including by placing and negotiating on new orders), mistakes, problem in food production or equipment failure;
- Identifying and responding to conflict situations within the kitchen environment;
- Ensuring high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout kitchen area;
- Liaising with other staff members (both kitchen, floor and management) as means to work cooperatively with them to ensure that operations move smoothly; and
- Demonstrating a high standard of personal hygiene and correcting issues in that regard whenever others fail to do so.

Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:

- Minimum of a relevant Certificate IV/Diploma, and 1 year’ full time work experience in the industry within the past 5 years; OR 3 years’ work experience in the industry to substitute the formal qualification.

Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:

- Strong cooking skills and overall culinary repertoire;
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities.

Annual salary will be between $76,000.00 to $86,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
