We are seeking a dynamic, creative and career focused Chef to lead our Kitchen team.
Responsibilities & Duties :
• Plan, organise, and prepare food in accordance with the restaurant’s menu specifications, portion control requirements, and established quality standards.
• Prepare and cook a wide range of menu items including gourmet pizzas, grilled meats, burgers, pastas, sides, and specialty dishes using commercial kitchen equipment such as pizza ovens, grills, fryers, and preparation stations.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes to maintain brand standards and customer satisfaction.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during service periods, allocating duties and ensuring smooth workflow during busy trading hours.
• Monitor stock levels, conduct regular stocktakes, and place orders with approved suppliers to maintain adequate inventory levels.
• Ensure proper food storage, stock rotation (FIFO), and temperature control in compliance with Australian food safety standards and HACCP guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
• Assist in menu development, cost control, and waste minimization strategies to support business profitability.
• Train and guide junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and company standards.
• Perform additional duties as required by management to support efficient kitchen operations and uphold the reputation of Smokin Joe’s Pizza & Grill.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
• Mandatory: Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Preferred/Advantageous: Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management, or any equivalent overseas qualification.Minimum over 2 years of relevant industry experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a fast-paced pizza and grill environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP principles, and workplace health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proven creativity, passion for food, and commitment to high-quality service.
• Excellent teamwork, time management, and communication skills.
