Salary: $80,000 plus 12% superannuation
Our client, Brunch Café & Grill is a busy breakfast and lunch café located at Sefton. The venue is known for generous brunch plates, grilled mains and a varied all-day menu. Brunch Café & Grill pride on delivering an unforgettable dining experience that keeps the guests coming back for more.
The client is looking to fill a full time position for a talented and passionate Chef to join its team. You will join a hands-on team that serves high-volume breakfast and lunch covers, delivers consistently plated café classics and grill mains, and values food quality, speed and friendly front-of-house collaboration. There is an opportunity to contribute to menu ideas, seasonal specials and operational improvements.
To be successful in this position, you will need to have relevant one years work experience and trade qualifications, you must have a genuine interest in the hospitality industry. The successful applicant must comply with all WHS, Food Safety and HACCP requirements.
Key responsibilities
• Prepare and cook menu items to recipe and presentation standards
• Manage mise-en-place and prep for high-volume morning service.
• Supervise and roster kitchen support staff during shifts; train junior cooks on recipes and service pace.
• Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and plate presentation.
• Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and HACCP practices; comply with WHS requirements.
• Manage stock control, daily food ordering and inventory rotation to minimise waste and control food cost.
• Contribute to menu development, seasonal specials and costings.
• Support clean-as-you-go procedures and maintain cleaning schedules for equipment and storage areas.
• Assist management with supplier liaison and occasional events or catering requests.
Qualifications & experience (minimum)
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or AQF Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Hospitality (or equivalent trade qualification).
• At least one year full-time commercial cookery experience, preferably in a busy café/restaurant or grill environment.
• Proven ability to run breakfast and lunch services under time pressure while maintaining quality and plate consistency.
• Current food safety/HACCP knowledge and an understanding of WHS in a commercial kitchen.

• Excellent plate presentation and consistent attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills — comfortable liaising with front-of-house staff.
• Practical problem-solver with a focus on customer satisfaction and efficient service.
