Position Title: Chaplain (Female Only) Location: Southern Qld Correctional Centre and Lockyer Valley Correction Centre - Gatton Employment Type: Part-time (15.2 hours per week) About Us The Salvation Army (Salvos) is a place of the heart where we share the love of Jesus by caring for people, creating faith pathways, building healthy communities, and working for justice. The Role We are seeking a compassionate and spiritually grounded Female Chaplain to join our team in Gatton. As a trained spiritual practitioner, the Chaplain will provide holistic care by supporting the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of clients and staff, in collaboration with other professional team members. Due to the sensitive nature of the role and its clientele, this position is only open to female applicants. This provision is permitted in accordance with section 25(1) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD). This role involves one-on-one support, group facilitation, and the coordination or delivery of religious services such as chapel gatherings and Bible studies (as permitted by Correctional Centre). The Chaplain will also liaise with other faith groups to ensure inclusive spiritual care for people of all beliefs. How you will make an impact: Offer one-on-one spiritual and pastoral conversations and facilitate group sessions. Support individuals on their personal faith journey and encourage spiritual exploration. Work in collaboration with local corps (Salvation Army Churches) and mission teams to establish meaningful faith pathways. Provide pastoral care in response to critical incidents, alongside formal debriefing professionals. Organise and lead faith-based ceremonies in line with Salvation Army traditions. Facilitate connection to appropriate faith communities, whether within The Salvation Army or external. Maintain accurate records in systems such as SAMIS in accordance with legal and organisational requirements. Ensure administrative tasks, including budget management, are completed in line with Salvation Army protocols. Regularly review budget and administrative performance with the Chaplaincy Team Leader. Complete credentialing documentation, goal setting, and other required reporting. What You Will Bring Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army. Previous experience in chaplaincy or a related pastoral care role. Mandatory qualifications: Diploma of Chaplaincy Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) (preferred) Theological studies Active involvement in a Christian church or faith community. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Compassionate, emotionally resilient, and approachable.
