Find out more about us and our purpose. Your opportunity Join Mission Australia as a Chaplain and play a vital role in supporting the pastoral health and wellbeing of staff and participants. Based in Alice Springs, this role offers the unique opportunity to provide spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and support in alignment with our Christian founding purpose and values. You will engage primarily with staff with availability also for clients fostering meaningful connections that strengthen both personal and organisational growth. Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide pastoral care and support to staff and clients addressing spiritual, personal, and emotional wellbeing needs. Promote Mission Australia’s founding purpose and values, guiding staff in values-based decision making and reflective practice. Conduct regular pastoral care sessions for staff and clients, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and personal empowerment. Collaborate with Program Managers to design and facilitate spiritual and cultural programs for teams and communities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, local churches, and community organisations. Monitor and evaluate chaplaincy activities, providing feedback and suggesting improvements to ensure ongoing success and alignment with organisational goals. Requirements for success Relevant theological qualifications, Clinical Pastoral Education, or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution. Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally appropriate pastoral care and support, spreading the knowledge of God’s love with sensitivity. Strong listening, engagement, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands. Demonstrated professional approach to the role including maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality Commitment to personal spiritual growth, active participation in a local church community, and alignment with Mission Australia’s values and founding purpose. Current Valid Drivers’ Licence and Ochre Card. Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
