Spill the Beans is a cosy, pet-friendly brunch café in Linden Park (just around the corner from Burnside Village). We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality coffee (ST. ALi), fresh ingredients, consistent food quality, and efficient service to our local community. Open daily from 7 AM – 3 PM, we welcome customers and their pups in a warm, inclusive environment.

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team as a permanent team member. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and cooking food, ensuring excellent standards of quality and hygiene, and helping us maintain our reputation for great brunch and lunch offerings.

Key Responsibilities
- Examine food items to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for service
- Regulate and monitor oven, grill, and other cooking equipment temperatures
- Prepare and cook dishes to menu specifications; season appropriately
- Portion meals, plate them attractively, and finish plates with sauces, gravies, garnishes
- Store food items correctly in temperature-controlled facilities
- Prepare dishes accommodating special dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies)
- Assist in menu planning and estimating food requirements, as needed
- Train and mentor other kitchen staff and apprentices, where relevant
- Communicate food preparation issues and liaise with management and service staff to ensure smooth operations
- Ensure all kitchen operations comply with workplace health & safety laws and hygiene regulations

Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a café or similar hospitality environment; ability to perform well in busy service periods
- Sound understanding of food safety legislation, hygiene standards, and best practices
- Ability to work under pressure, maintaining consistency, attention to detail, and high quality
- Good communication skills; ability to work well in a team
