About Us:
Pickers & Pruners Labour Hire is seeking to employ two dedicated and hardworking Butcher Assistant to join one of our key clients, in its meat processing plant located in Claymore, NSW.
The Role:
The Butcher man assists in the preparation, cutting, curing, and processing of beef to produce salted beef. This role ensures all processes meet food safety regulations, quality standards, and operational efficiency requirements As a Butcher Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced meat processing environment, where teamwork and a strong work ethic are essential. You must be prepared to work in cold storage environments and be physically capable of handling the demands of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cut, trim, and prepare beef for salting and preservation.
• Apply curing methods and recipes accurately to ensure consistency.
• Monitor quality and food safety at every stage of production.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards in the processing area.
• Manage stock levels of raw beef, curing agents, and finished products.
• Assist with packaging, labelling, and preparation for dispatch/export.
• Maintain food safety compliance requirements.
• Operate tools and equipment safely, ensuring maintenance where required
Requirements:
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistent quality.
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Motivated and reliable
• Ability to withstand cold storage working conditions
• Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting, standing, and moving throughout the day
Compensation & Benefits:
• Hourly rate paid under the Meat Industry Award (2020), Classification Level 1.
• 38 hrs per week with some overtime. Monday to Friday working days from 8am to 4pm
• Working conditions as provided under the National Employment Standards (NES).
• Work starts in December 2025 on a long-term contract preferably 4 years.
• Training and upskilling will be provided
