We now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Energy Solutions team in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will play a critical role in evaluating, securing and seeking approval of new business opportunities aligned with APA’s growth strategy in the National Electricity Market (NEM) gas power generation (GPG) segment. You will drive commercial outcomes through development and maintenance of customer relationships. You will lead cross-functional matrix teams to prepare high-quality customer proposals, business cases and board-level documentation to support investment decisions. This is a dynamic, commercially focused role that offers the opportunity to shape the front end of APA’s development pipeline and directly influence our energy transition agenda. Key Responsibilities Originate, evaluate, and secure new GPG development opportunities aligned with strategic priorities Lead and direct matrix teams from origination and early development phases, including feasibility to financial investment decision working in close collaboration with commercial, technical and finance Lead the preparation of high-quality investment proposals and board documentation for strategic projects, including due diligence and financial analysis Lead the preparation and presentation of customer proposals/bids, including technical, commercial and strategic inputs Lead the negotiation of early staged agreements i.e MOUs and Development Agreements within approved boundaries Work closely with Project Development Managers to ensure seamless project progression through internal stage gates and project hand over Develop and maintain of strategic customer relationships and represent APA at industry events, forums and engagements. Your background Proven experience in business development, commercial strategy in the energy, infrastructure, or utilities sectors Strong commercial acumen and experience negotiating early-stage agreements (e.g. development agreements, MOUs) Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams in complex stakeholder environments Strong proposal and presentation writing skills Sound understanding of energy markets, particularly NEM and gas-fired generation, is highly regarded Ability to manage multiple opportunities in parallel, balancing commercial, technical, and regulatory considerations Working at APA At APA we’re committed to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace where you can achieve your best.
