About
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Broadacre Crop Grower (nec) on behalf of our client, Hillcroft Farms Pty Ltd, a diversified agricultural enterprise located in Lol Gray, Western Australia. This is a full-time, permanent role for a candidate with broadacre cropping experience that extends beyond typical grain production and supports the farm’s integrated feed and livestock systems.

About the Role
This role is ideal for a cropping professional involved in the planning, management, and production of a variety of broadacre crops including grains, legumes, hay, and pasture, especially where these crops support vertically integrated animal production systems. The successful candidate will work across multiple phases of the production cycle and contribute to both feed security and cropping profitability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As per the ANZSCO classification 121599 – Crop Farmers nec, and in alignment with Hillcroft Farms' operations, the duties will include:
• Planning and managing the cultivation of crops not limited to cereals, including pasture crops, legumes, oilseeds, and fodder for livestock
• Operating and maintaining broadacre machinery including seeders, sprayers, harvesters, spreaders, and loaders
• Monitoring soil conditions, crop development, pest and disease pressures, and implementing corrective actions
• Coordinating planting, irrigation, spraying, fertiliser applications, and harvest activities in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensuring proper storage and handling of harvested crops and inputs such as fertilisers, seed, and chemicals
• Managing crop rotations and soil health programs to maximise long-term sustainability and yield
• Recording and analysing cropping data including yield, input usage, and environmental conditions
• Supervising seasonal workers and coordinating day-to-day on-farm cropping operations
• Ensuring all practices meet WHS, environmental, and biosecurity regulations

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet one of the following:
• Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or higher qualification (e.g. Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Production); OR
• Have at least 5 years of full-time (38+ hours/week) experience in broadacre crop production; OR
• Have a combination of relevant experience and formal training deemed equivalent under Australian standards
Additional Requirements:
• Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of modern broadacre cropping equipment
• Sound knowledge of cropping systems, plant nutrition, and sustainable farming practices
• Ability to work with precision agriculture technologies (e.g. GPS guidance systems, field mapping)
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance including chemical handling, WHS, and environmental stewardship
• Good record-keeping and organisational skills
• Ability to supervise and train farmhands and seasonal workers
• A current manual driver’s licence is required; machinery or loader tickets are desirable
