Sydney Maximus Construction & Labour is a growing construction company delivering a broad range of building services across Sydney. Our projects span residential and commercial developments, including new builds, extensions, refurbishments, remedial works and general structural and external works. We manage projects from initial site preparation through to final finishes, coordinating a variety of trades to achieve high-quality outcomes for our clients.

We are currently seeking a Bricklayer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be experienced in laying bricks, blocks and related masonry products to construct and repair walls, partitions and other structural and decorative features. Working alongside other trades across multiple sites, this role plays an important part in delivering our construction projects safely, efficiently and to specification.

Position Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Interpret construction drawings and job specifications to plan layout and determine materials and measurements required for each task.
• Assemble and disassemble low-level scaffolding platforms to ensure safe access to work areas.
• Apply moisture-proof coatings to foundation surfaces and prepare mortar beds as a base for laying bricks or blocks.
• Arrange bricks, stones, or blocks in specific sequences and patterns, forming walls, arches, and partitions as directed.
• Place and press building materials into fresh mortar, ensuring secure adhesion and structural stability.
• Trim and smooth excess mortar from joints to maintain a neat and finished appearance.
• Use tools like spirit levels and string lines to verify correct alignment and positioning of brickwork.
• Modify the shape and size of bricks or stones using manual or mechanical cutting tools to suit design requirements.
• Conduct maintenance or repair work on existing masonry by replacing damaged bricks and restoring mortar joints.
• Produce custom stonework, including engraved or shaped pieces, for architectural or commemorative features.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Certificate III or IV or three years of work experience.
• A minimum of one years' experience in a similar role.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients.
• Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work long hours.
• Attention to detail for clean and precise brickwork.

Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $76,515 - $80,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
