Casual | Immediate Start | 6–9 Months
We require 50 Banana Farm Workers for a banana farm located in the Innisfail region of North Queensland. Positions are casual for a period of 6 to 9 months, with an immediate start.
Wages will be paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award. Work is available 5–6 days per week, depending on weather and crop requirements.
The average minimum weekly hours are approximately 30 hours, however hours may vary from week to week.
The work is physically demanding, and there are regular periods of hot and humid weather. Workers must be physically fit and self-motivated.
Own transport is not required.
Previous experience is not required, but will be considered favourable.
Daily Duties May Include
Field Work:
Harvesting banana bunches
De-leafing, stringing, and de-suckering banana plants
Planting bananas
Irrigation Installation and maintenance
Other field duties as directed by your Team Leader
Shed Work:
Hanging banana bunches
De-handing, sorting, and packing bananas
Packing Banana Cartons
Stacking banana cartons
Other shed duties as directed by your Team Leader
What You Need
Physically fit
Self-motivated
Available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week (subject to weather conditions)
Able to work as part of a team and follow Team Leader instructions
Must follow all Workplace Health & Safety instructions
Able to work in all weather conditions
Drug & Alcohol Policy (Important)
This workplace conducts regular and/or random drug and alcohol testing
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the work, any drug or alcohol reading above 0.00 is not permitted
If a worker attends the workplace and records a reading above 0.00, employment may be terminated
Ongoing employment is conditional on compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy
