Position Title: Assistant Store Manager Classification: General Retail Award – Level 4 Department: Gladstone Family Store Employment Status: Casual Store Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 3.00 pm Saturdays 8.00 am to 1.00 pm Why this role matters: The Salvation Army (Salvos) maintains a strong connection with the local community through our retail stores. About the role : The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Family Store, including retail, recycling, and administrative tasks, in alignment with The Salvation Army's mission and values. This role also acts as a backup, taking full responsibility for store operations during the absence of both the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager (e.g. during annual leave or illness). How you will make an impact: Supervise and support day-to-day store operations, ensuring efficient functioning in all areas including retail floor setup, stock rotation, pricing, cleanliness, point of sale operations, and customer service. Open and close the store as required, including balancing cash registers and end-of-day procedures. Assist with the effective marketing and merchandising of stock, ensuring items are well-presented and the store remains organised and inviting. Maintain smooth and uninterrupted store operations when acting as the Store Manager in their absence. What You Will Bring: Proven experience in retail and/or customer service. Experience in mentoring or training staff, or the demonstrated ability to do so. A current and valid driver’s licence Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one. Sufficient physical fitness to perform the manual aspects of the role.
