About the role The Salvation Army’s Kalgoorlie Youth Services is seeking a compassionate and engaging Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Education Support Worker to join our team. This full-time position is fixed term to 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension, and is worked Monday to Friday with one afternoon shift to 8pm on a flexible fortnightly roster. In this role, you will support young people aged 15 to 25 by providing practical education, harm reduction support and flexible case management within a trauma informed, youth centred environment. Support is provided to young people staying at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Youth Accommodation Service as well as young people in the wider community through outreach. You will work alongside young people as they navigate challenges around alcohol and other drug use, helping them build confidence, strengthen wellbeing and access the right supports at the right time. This is a meaningful, relationship-based role where you can make a genuine difference in the lives of young people in the Kalgoorlie Boulder region. Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 4 Award. How you will make an impact Develop and deliver a safe, supportive AOD education and support program, both one to one and in group settings Provide flexible, person-centred case management and care coordination Build strong relationships with local health, mental health and specialist AOD services Provide warm referrals and help young people access the right supports Share AOD information and resources with internal staff and, where possible, external partners and the community Participate in case reviews, planning meetings and reflective practice Establish brokerage needs and support young people to access appropriate resources Maintain accurate records on The Salvation Army’s database and complete monthly and six-monthly reporting Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture What you will bring Certificate III (or higher) in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Community Services, Youth Work or similar Experience supporting vulnerable young people through case management or similar roles A genuine passion for youth engagement and harm reduction work Understanding of trauma informed practice and youth development Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly Confidence working both independently and within a supportive team Current WA Driver’s Licence First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain within three months) What we offer Salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 tax free) plus Entertainment Benefit ($2,650 tax free) Employee Assistance Program – confidential counselling Financial, retail and lifestyle discounts Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport Up to 8 weeks of leave per year through our Purchase Leave Scheme Generous parental leave (12 weeks) Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a Salvation Army program or activity A supportive, inclusive culture with passionate and dedicated team members How to apply If you are passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, strengthen wellbeing and make positive changes in their lives, we would love to hear from you.
