The Airport Services Manager is a member of the Terminal and Landside Operations team who enables the duty team members to deliver high levels of performance and exceptional passenger services. You’ll lead the duty operations team, comprising the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC), Terminal, Cargo, Ramp and Airfield functions. Reporting to the Executive Manager – AOCC, this critical leadership role will have oversite of the safe and efficient operations for all WSI operators, customers and visitors. The role will initially be performed within regular business hours to support the development of processes and procedures. It will then transition to a shift-based position that supports our operational trials and testing, prior to the commencement of live operations when the role will require permanent shift work. Key responsibilities: Effectively manage airport response to incidents and emergencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan, Standard Operating Procedures and other procedures to maximise the preservation of life and property. Work closely with the AOCC, Terminal, Cargo, Ramp and Airfield teams to ensure a strong focus on the safe and efficient facilitation of passengers from Landside to Aircraft. Coordinate briefings with stakeholders such as Border Agencies, key stakeholders and AOCC team to discuss key movements and any potential risks to the day and ensuring resourcing is at appropriate levels. Provide management briefs, reports and insights into critical performance matters relevant to functional business unit managers. Oversight and management of above wing operations from check in to boarding gates and arrivals processes. Ensure the functionality of the WSI assets including check-in kiosks, auto bag drops, oversize, reclaims, gates and buses. Manage the overall presentation and cleanliness of the Terminal and ensuring any safety concerns are managed and rectified. Monitor passenger flow and queuing throughout the terminal and effectively communicate with front line Terminal team to alleviate congestion points. Monitor all service contracts and performance and make recommendations for improvements. Communicate effectively with airlines, ground handling agents and other key stakeholders to achieve safe On Time Performance (OTP). Act as Chief Fire Warden and liaise with the Emergency Control Organisation and/or emergency services to effectively respond to and manage Terminal alarms while ensuring a safe evacuation of the Terminal if required. Coordination of the day-to-day aviation security operation and compliance in accordance with security operating standards and practices, the Transport Security Program and all legislative/regulatory requirements. Report aviation safety and security incidents. Assess and support law enforcement agency requests to review CCTV footage. Maintain relationships with key external stakeholders and agencies including Airservices Australia, NSW Police, AFP, ABF, CISC, TfNSW and others. Implement operational plans to facilitate major transport movements and events. Assist to develop, implement and maintain operational processes, procedures and training. Conduct Terminal Inductions and tours as required. About You This is a great opportunity if you have extensive Airport experience, with proven team leadership and management experience. You’ll have 5-10 years’ experience in an operations leadership role within an airport (preferred) or airline. Excellent knowledge of airport and airline processes. Track record of developing procedures, training manuals, and building processes within operational systems. A highly effective people / team leader with excellent communication skills. Able to effectively manage and plan resources, time, and people. Able to lead under pressure, quickly analyse and decide a course of action. Systems literate and technology astute. Confident and self-motivated, comfortable taking and accepting responsibility. Flexibility and ability to adapt to change. Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card and/or other required security clearances. A University degree would be highly regarded. Ability to obtain a senior First Aid Certificate.
