About the Position:
The Agriculture Consultant role at Sandy Creek Gourmet Produce PTY LTD plays a pivotal part in driving the business's operational success and expansion by providing expert guidance on crop management, soil health, irrigation efficiency, and seasonal planting strategies to achieve reliable yields and superior product quality. This position encompasses advising on sustainable practices, risk mitigation against pests, diseases, and climate factors, as well as ensuring compliance with food safety, biosecurity, and environmental regulations through optimised resource management and fertiliser programs. As the company scales its production and market reach, the consultant's contributions to data monitoring, farm reporting, and improvement initiatives are vital for boosting productivity, reducing operational risks, and sustaining profitability, making this role indispensable for maintaining our high standards in distribution and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Visiting farms to observe soil, crops, and irrigation performance, then providing personalised advice for better yield and soil balance.
Conducting soil and water tests, analysing results, and creating effective nutrient and fertiliser programs.
Recommending crop rotations and pest management plans suited to local conditions and seasonal challenges.
Assisting with irrigation planning to reduce water waste and maintain consistent growth.
Guiding and training farm staff on safe handling of chemicals, machinery calibration, and record keeping.
Helping the owners plan budgets, production schedules, and identify market opportunities to improve business performance.
Requirements:
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Diploma or Bachelor in Agriculture / Horticulture.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
Strong technical skills in soil analysis, irrigation systems, pest management, and sustainable farming practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear communication, teamwork, and the ability to train and advise staff effectively.
