  • About the role
  • Hancock Iron Ore is seeking an experienced Advisor Environment – Mine Operations to join our team. Reporting to the Supervisor Environment – Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance across our Contractor Mining sites, safeguarding our licence to operate. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for supporting environmental monitoring, regulatory reporting, and managing the Ground Disturbance Permitting (GDP) system, directly contributing to team performance and the achievement of business objectives. With a strong focus on safety, adherence to company policies, and values-driven behaviour, you will help deliver sustainable operations and create value for our stakeholders.

  • Duties
  • Ensure all environmental legal obligations, commitments, and regulatory reporting requirements are met across the sites
  • Promote environmental awareness and best practice across the business, fostering a culture of compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement
  • Manage and maintain environmental systems, plans, registers, and procedures, including the Ground Disturbance Permit (GDP) system and mine closure plans
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and environmental monitoring (flora, fauna, dust, water, hydrocarbons) to identify risks and drive improvements
  • Provide technical expertise and stay current with industry standards, regulations, and innovative environmental management practices
  • Coordinate environmental surveys, programs of work, and training initiatives to support operational and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost‑effective environmental outcomes that protect Atlas’s licence to operate

  • Skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline – Lead Auditor qualifications will be well regarded
  • Experience in environmental compliance within the mining or resources sector
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks in Western Australia
  • Proven experience with ISO14001 environmental management systems, monitoring, inspections, and auditing
  • Demonstrated ability to work on mine sites and in remote areas, coordinating contractors and environmental surveys
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), with GIS and database application skills desirable
  • Current Australian C Class Manual Driver’s Licence, 4WD certification, and First Aid qualification
