About the Position:
The Activities Coordinator plays a pivotal role at Mayflower Brighton by designing and delivering engaging, personalised leisure and recreational programs that promote residents' social, emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeing. This position focuses on creating a vibrant and inclusive environment in a modern aged care setting, where tailored activities help residents maintain independence, build connections, and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, contributing directly to the organisation's mission of holistic, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and implementing leisure activity programs for individuals in health care and in the community to assist in their social development and promote their sense of wellbeing.
Identifying individual needs through task analysis.
Evaluating and assessing clients' levels of abilities, interests, needs, strengths and weaknesses, and their ability to carry out a range of tasks and interact with others.
Maintaining a knowledge of resources available within the facility and within the community.
Organising leisure and recreational events.
Assisting with training and supervising volunteers and staff.
Providing information on available support resources within the local community.
Encouraging and supporting clients to take part in activities suited to their particular needs and interests.
Adapting programs to suit individual clients' needs, interests, skills and abilities.
Requirements:
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Diploma in Community Services (or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Strong organisational and creative skills to plan and adapt engaging programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents, families, and teams.
Compassion, empathy, and patience when working with older adults, including those with diverse needs or dementia.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and supervise volunteers effectively.
