About the Role

Our client are a local government organisation based in Collingwood, VIC. They are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to come in and join them on temp contract basis until 31st December 2026.

Candidates for this role must have:

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable processing in a large organisation

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

• Technology One System experience (Highly desirable)

Key responsibilities will include:

• Invoice Verification & Compliance Ensure all invoices are correct and accurate, maintaining strict adherence to GST legislation, corporate authorisation rules, account coding, and acceptance protocols.
• System Data Entry Perform timely and accurate data input of financial information into the Accounts Payable (AP) system.
• Weekly Cheque Processing Manage the end-to-end weekly cheque cycle, including the selection, approval, printing, folding, and mailing of payments.
• Documentation Management Handle the collating, matching, and filing of all invoices alongside their corresponding remittances.
• Supplier Record Maintenance Proactively maintain the integrity and accuracy of the supplier records file.
• EFT Payment Reporting Generate the EFT payment register for formal transfer to the Assistant Financial Accountant.
• Process Improvement Identify any inadequacies in creditors’ procedures and provide formal suggestions and recommendations for improvement to the Senior Accounts Payable Officer.
• Professional Inquiry Handling Attend to all telephone enquiries involving accounts payable in a consistently courteous and professional manner.

About You

You will be an experienced Accounts Payable Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable processing in a large organisation
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
• Technology One System experience (Highly desirable)
