Established in the 1990s, Polytex is one of the leading tarpaulin manufacturers, supplying products for agriculture, industrial, and commercial uses across Australia.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accountant to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing insightful reports, and supporting business decision-making. This position will contribute to ensuring financial integrity, cost control, and performance tracking as the business continues its next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will reside in the Riverina area and be able to work on-site in Leeton.

Duties:
• Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, ensuring accurate variance analysis within Profit & Loss reports and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage the month-end closing process by reviewing P&L results, reconciling accounts, and preparing detailed reports for management and board review.
• Establish budgets and perform forecast analysis to monitor actual performance against targets, ensuring accuracy and reliability in financial projections.
• Compile weekly sales reports and monitor invoices, forecasts, and sales results against targets, presenting key financial statistics and insights during production and management meetings.
• Oversee company cash flow and weekly payment runs, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled.
• Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, and other tax obligations, while liaising with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance and timely submissions.
• Support process improvements and assist in the transition to NetSuite, enhancing financial reporting efficiency and system integration.
• Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies.
• Prepare supporting documentation, data, and analysis for strategic reviews, decision-making, and board reporting.

Skills and Experience:
• Proven ability to adapt to multiple financial systems and platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in overseeing or guiding finance staff will be well regarded.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA or CA qualifications preferable.
• 3+ years of demonstrated accounting experience, preferably with exposure to budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations.
• Able to take initiative, solve problems, and contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes.
• An analytical mind with a high level of problem-solving ability.
• Highly computer literate in MS Office, accounting software, and ERP systems.
• Positive, can-do, and flexible attitude.
• Must be living in Australia and have full Australian working rights.
