About
Wounded Heroes has been successful in securing a Skilling Queenslanders for Work program located in Bundamba and funded by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) and is partnering with TAFE QLD and the Ipswich Turf Club to bring to our community our new ‘Food4Heroes’ Program.
This program is targeting ex-Australian Defence Force personnel and their families as well as other unemployed community members including those with disability, those with mental illness, First Nations people, those re-entering the work force after long term unemployment, young and mature-age jobseekers, those with English as a second language.
The ‘Food4Heroes’ program has been developed to employ members of the local community who are currently experiencing barriers to employment. Successful applicants will take part in a 20-week, full-time PAID Traineeship studying a Certificate I in Hospitality SIT10222 onsite at Ipswich Turf Club.
This program will provide you with entry level skills to gain employment within the hospitality sector. The participants will learn all aspects of basic kitchen operations and will cook volume meals for Wounded Heroes that will be given for FREE to local veterans that are experiencing financial crisis, homeless or at risk of homelessness, or sold at affordable prices for the local Community.
The ‘Food4Heroes’ program will not only result in participants gaining the benefits of increased confidence, independence and skills, but will also give them the knowledge that they have assisted vulnerable veterans in the community by supplying much needed meals.
